It came with an ERIE griddle, same style handles. There's much crud on the one, but she's heavy. I'll take better pics later.

I would imagine that style handle was pretty common, but here is an interesting one with similar handles (but no gate marks). What is interesting is that it is a Wapak with Erie ghostmark!

Here we have a vintage cast iron griddle made by Wapak . The bottom is stamped "Wapak". The word "Erie" is also stamped but is very light. The number 8 is stamped at the opposite end.

Hey guys, is this really from the 1940s? Would have thought it to be older. (Ergo: what do I know?)

No idea. There have been gate marked copies. Going to take a bit to get this piece cleaned, no room in the lye bath and too big for the etank. Might have to bag it and spray it, hoping there's marks under the crud but i'm not holding my breath.

I don't think it's a copy or that new. you can't fake patina. From what I've read, gate-marked pieces are hard to identify. I'm no expert so take my advice with a grain or two of salt. I have an unknown griddle myself and may never ID it but that doesn't take away from the fact that I'm happy to own it.
