Griddle Identification Please

This griddle was acquired from great grandmother who was born in 1881--not sure if she was original owner. The griddle is 9.25" diameter, handle to griddle top is 13.25". On the back the heat ring is 7 3/8" diameter with a rounded notch at 2:30. The raised molder's mark "8" on the bottom at 6:00 is the only marking. I have been unable to locate one like this with the handle hole pointed at both ends. The handle by the hole is flat on the back--see pics. I would appreciate any information. Thank you.

I'd assume the 8 to be a stove eye size marking rather than a molder's mark. One could infer that side gating indicates a foundry with some degree of technological advancement for the time period it appears to be from. A few makers used raised numeral size markings, Lodge among them, but nothing here to conclusively indicate Lodge or any other, really.

Thanks for the info. In my research, I read that a raised mark was a molder's mark and that numbers were often used to count the number and review the quality that the operator was producing for payment purposes. Not sure if this info is accurate since it was on the internet. I do believe this griddle would fit an 8" wood stove eye.:|. It sure has a unique handle hole...I haven't been able to find one like it.

Molder's marks are typically a raised letter or letters, most often assumed to be the mold maker's initial(s). A good molder could produce dozens of molds per shift, so putting his "count" on the pans themselves would mean we'd expect to see double digits, but that is not seen.
