Griswold 2 Burner Griddle

I recently became the caretaker of a #8 slant logo griddle.

The cook surface is much rougher than any of my skillets.

Is this normal for griddles? It's the only one I have seen up close and personal.

Items not capable of being spun on a rotating mechanism couldn't be polish ground. At most, they would have been tumbled. Gem pans, long griddles, breakfast skillets, etc. are never seen polish ground.
