Griswold Cowboy Hat Ashtray?

Any experts on authentic cowboy hat ashtray identification?

I think it has everything... 'hats off to griswold' 'erie pa' and not sure if you can see it in the pic, but a '31' deep inside the hat. It's one of the aluminum ones, not cast iron... but seems to be in good condition... almost seems like it was coated with some sort of protective coating.

Appears genuine. Griswold typically had separate p/ns for iron and aluminum, but that doesn't seem to be the case with this item.

ok, so next question... any idea what it's worth?
There aren't a lot of ones that have sold that I can find on the interwebs, someone on Etsy wants $1000 for one... not sure if that one is iron or aluminum. I took a bit of a chance on this one at an online auction... didn't have pics of the bottom... so I didn't pay much, not knowing if everything was correct or not... but I'm happy with what I'm seeing so far.
 
BB values aluminum at $500-600, based on excellent condition. That value may be outdated.
