Hiya Folks,
I am familiar with Griswold cast iron but didn't know they had produced an electric waffle maker. Wonder if they produced any electric toasters and other countertop devices?

Griswold Mfg. Co. of Erie, Pa, U.S.A. was well known for the production of cast iron cookware such as skillets, pots, etc. from circa 1868 to 1957.
Pictured is an electric Waffle Maker by Griswold made of aluminum. I have never seen one before and trying to conduct some research on this little kitchen gadget that does work. Any info or direction I can go with this? Thanks!

Old Griswold catalogs show they also made electric griddles and hot plates. Although electric waffle irons were available in the mid-1910s, it wasn't until the mid-1920s that they appeared to catch on in a big way and Griswold joined the party. Yours appears to be a model 1.8.E with the A923 being a pattern number for the base. It might be fun to restore the original shine, if the non-metallic and electrical parts can be protected. The bottom was not likely polished, so the nameplate wouldn't be in harm's way.
