this has what appears to be a griswold ghost mark. I guess this is from when wagner bought Griswold and they tried to getrid of the marking from the mold. I noticed the actual Griswold says 129 where this one says made in usa and the "since 1865" in missing. would the ghost mark increase or lower value? I don't even see that wagner made an egg skillet. did they make one?

The Made In USA places the piece early to mid-1960s, after the acquisition, and after any Griswold casting operations had been moved to Sidney. Wagner patterns were modified for a time to add the Griswold trademark, often sloppily. It's obvious from this piece that Wagner added this pattern to its offerings by debranding it. It could then have been sold as either Wagner or Griswold or even a store brand, depending on what paper label was affixed. The ghost tells us that a Griswold pattern was modified, but, while of some interest to collectors, doesn't really make it more valuable. I would think its value lies somewhere between an unmarked Wagner skillet and the original Griswold piece, but probably to the lower end.
