Picked this piece up a couple weeks ago for $10. Pretty rough but I enjoy hammered ware and being a Griswold SBL thought it was worth a shot. After a two week dip in the lye bath I put it in the eTank last night. When I bought it I didn’t notice until I was getting in the truck that it was most likely a platted piece which became clearly apparent after taking it out of the tank this afternoon. I know that the no 8 & 9 were identical in size and shared the same pattern no of 2039. My question is what was this platted with? I see no reference anywhere that this pattern was available in chrome or nickel platted. The iron itself is in much better condition than I anticipated. Could the owner possibly have had this platted after purchasing? Thank you for any info…
