Is their much of a risk that after use a welded crack in the handle of a pan could weaken? Im assuming no but im not sure how it would do after the constant heat change. Im considering buying a number 9 Piqua for a user that has a welded handle.

One really needs to know how to weld cast so it will hold together. Cast iron is a different animal when it comes to welding.

If is me,I skip it make no sense buying a welded skillet for user, when you can get a good one probably cheaper.

In my opinion, the only way to ship a #9 skillet for $12.50 is to cram it into a medium flat rate shipping box with a tiny bit of the handle sticking out and no wrapping paper. When that thing gets to your house it won't have a handle anymore.
If you are patient and start asking everyone you talk to about cast iron you will find 3 good skillets for $25.
