Heat diffuser

I bought this heat diffuser off of ebay last night. I am wondering if it was made by Griswold. It says GMO but I don't know what that stands for? I think it's made out of steel. Also, my daughter has a flat top electric stove. I gave her a Griswold griddle to heat tortillas but I didn't know if it would work because only the heat ring would make contact. Would this diffuser help in that situation?

I think the surface against the glass needs to be flat.
