Very cool forum, so much information here.
I have no idea why or how I recently developed an interest in cast iron cooking and cookware.... but it happened.
No I'm always looking out of cast iron at garage sales, trying to learn about cleaning and seasoning new (old) pans and other cast iron, looking online for sales ebay and such.... seems like a lot of people are doing the same
Anyway, I moved into and remodeled an old house very early 1900's, the guy left a couple of cast iron pans, before I knew they were worth anything I threw all away except for 2 of them, they got caught in a basement flood and I almost threw them away too....
The first one I have is an 8" pan, the numbers stacked on top of each other from one rim to the other, a raised 2 and then a large (stamped or embedded) 5 in the middle and a embedded or stamped 1 on the other end.
It lays flat, no wobble. Inside bottom is pitted but I assume the seasoning will help to fix that.

Above is my flickr album for that pan, would appreciate any help in identifying it and wether or not it's worth anything. I really just want it to use for cooking. It's a little difficult breaking my wife into cast iron, she has MS and everything is already heavy....so a cast iron pan is a little difficult for her....but she's coming around.
Thanks guys,
Scott
