My father passed away leaving his rather large collection. I have done some research via the internet. Wow it's fascinating. I need help identifying several pieces and determine a reasonable value. My 2nd piece is a raised 7 on top of the handle and a gate mark on the bottom of the pan. The raised # indicates to me pre Lodge (Blacklock). I'm not sure since there is no visible raised letter on the bottom of the pan. Thanks for your help.

The gatemark would not be Lodge or Blacklock. Most likely an individual's or small foundry's recast copy of an (unknown) established foundry's skillet.

The style of the skillet is like that which was the norm after the advent of side gating. So the likelihood is that it was produced later by someone who did not have the technology to side gate and used the simpler, older bottom gating. This could be easily confirmed if there are artifacts of ground off side gates along the top edge, i.e. there would be no reason for grind marks on the lip if it were an original bottom gated casting.
