Help Identify T Kettle Please

Hello. I acquired a T kettle with a gate mark across the length of the bottom and on the top of the lid there is a star with the number 8 centered in it. I believe the date is pre 1900 but not a clue about the star with the 8 on top. Any help or ideas appreciated. Thanks
 
A picture or two would be great for the IDing process.

Lodge tea kettles have a star with a number in the center on their lid. They were made 1915 to 1940s according to the book. Yours might be earlier though.
