Help identify

A friend found out that I was collecting cast iron and brought me this pan. I have no idea what it is. It is definitely a size 3, but I don't know the manufacturer or how old the pan might be.

Does anyone know what this is or how old it is?

Thanks for your help.

The markings are very reminiscent of the type seen on BSR. A shot of the entire bottom, including the handle, could help.

Here is the bottom. There are no markings. There is a round indention just above the hole in the handle the same size as the periods after the 3.S. on the front of the handle.

There is a #2 of that same design which has "Birmingham Stove & Range Co" on two lines in raised letters on the top of the handle. At least it's marked with a 2 on the bottom at 6 o'clock-- no way to be sure of its exact dimensions, though.

Those markings on top of the handle remind me of the old BSR (I think that's who made the pans) cornstick pans with 7 S on the bottom. These old BSRs are quite nice pans compared to most BSR talked about these days.

If I had to guess, I'd put it very late 1930s-1940s. 1930s because that's the timeframe when smooth-bottom skillets came into vogue. Up to 1940s because that's about the last of the timeframe of the "Red Mountain" style markings. Even though those markings may have continued into the 1950s automation/Century period, the large pour spouts on this one indicate earlier.
