Hello, I have an old #3 skillet and have been doing some reading trying to identify it. It needs some more clean up but will try to post pictures here. Any info welcome and much appreciated! Here some of its characteristics:

-- #3 skillet with teardrop handle
-- has heat ring on the back. no breaks in the heat ring
-- has the number 3 and the letter S at 6:30 and 5:30 on the back
-- has a plus sign at about 12 o'clock. I can't find any examples of this anywhere
-- has a series of 4 indented dots, running down the underside of the handle towards the hole in the handle.

It is a very pretty, smooth little pan. thanks for your help! --anne

wow, thank you! So you think this is from the 1930s-40s? I suspected this pan was probably pre-1960, but not that old! much appreciated :-)

I have a 3 s red mountain. They are somewhat smaller than regular 3 red mountain series. The 3 s measures 6 1/4 across and 1 1/4 high. The regular three measures 6 1/2 wide and 1 1/2 inch tall. My 3 s has #0 molders mark at 12 o'clock. Also the handle is 1/2 longer on the standard 3
