Help with dating an Erie no 22 (corn stick pan)

Hello all. Lone time collector, first time poster.

I had one of those WOW moments about 6 years ago, when my wife and I were in a St Vincent DePaul (thrift shop), and as usual I went straight to the cast-iron. There, I saw a thin walled stick pan and knew right away it was something good. $14 for a an Erie no 22! Granted it was a bit rusty and the seasoning was caked on so thick, I don’t know how anyone made decent cornbread in it at the end of it former cooking days, but it’s mine now.

So I just pulled it out of my get to it later pile of iron,. I had it on n the e-bath yesterday, and after striping, there is definitely no number markings, symbols….nothing. No 954. My wife and I have been sleuthing, and have been able to find much, than it possibly being pre1880, to n one thread.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I know it not a very sought after piece, but we collect cast iron, we’re not resellers. Every piece we have is used by us, and are considered family heirlooms.

Thanks for listening to my story, and happy hunting!

Words will get you so far, photos just might get you a little further.🤣

Photos of both sides as there are 15 variations for the #22 Bread Stick Pan..

It took me a bit, but these are good res pics.

So you say that the pan has no # 954 on the underside? I am asking as I might be missing it in the photos.

If no, Then I believe it to be Variation 4 No. 22 Bread Stick Pan. Production Dates: 1880s - 1950s

That’s correct, no number. I wasn’t aware that they were casting pans with Erie for that long of a period. Thanks for your help Jeffery!

The blue book gives 1910-1920 as the likely date range for this version of the pan. Later, fully marked versions (Griswold Corn Bread Pan Erie PA USA 954) were produced into the 1940s.

Yeah, I’ve seen a plethora of the Griswold EPU’s, and a few handfuls of the Erie no 22’s with the #954. I was hoping it would be a little earlier than that, my oldest piece, that I’m aware of, is the tall base #8 waffle iron, with the 1908 patent. I guess I’ll keep hunting, that’s what we do.
Thanks Doug👍

Well, The Yellow Book puts Production Dates: 1880s - 1950s That is for all 15 Variations.

What is a few years...
