Hi,

I need help identifying this skillet I picked up yesterday. I'm leaning towards a BSR. But, I am not sure. There is a raised 8 on the top of the handle. And, there is a "dot" at 1:00 and an "X" at 2:00 on the bottom. I have searched the web without much luck. I have posted on other boards without response. And even cross referenced "The Book of Griswold." Any assistance is appreciated.

Regards,

Nathan

Definitely not BSR. First impression would be to say no-notch Lodge, but the handle doesn't look right. Lodge molder's marks are sometimes askew, but not by that much.

I give up!

All three sets are the same images at the same resolution. They would need to be resized before uploading to imgur.com.

Nathan, you can edit the size of the pictures after they are uploaded to Imgur, but only on the desktop version. I upload them from my phone and wait j till I get home to resize them and post them here.

As for the skillet, I'm a huge fan of raised numbers on the handle. I don't think this is a Lodge (unless they played around with their handle design after they rebuilt the plant). I have a similar number 8. All I know is that there are skillets which share a few characteristics, but are obviously made by a different foundry. Here's my theory ... as the population moved around the country they took their knowledge with them. For example, from around 1900 to 1925 my grandfather moved from North Carolina to South Carolina to Georgia and finally settled down for good in Alabama. If he had been in the business of making holloware molds, you would have seen similar designs in skillets across four states.
