Hillshire Farm Skillet

This was an interesting piece of CI. My son just got a new range with a glass top and his wife told him that CI with a heat ring can’t be used. So he gave me his CI skillet and I gave him a Wagner #8 to use. The one he gave me appears to be a Lodge with a unique bottom. On the bottom it has “Hillshire Farm Country Smoked BACON”. I know nothing about this. Is it worth keeping or if I sell it, what would it be worth. Sorry for no picture. For some reason it won't let me upload.

Is she worried about the heat ring scratching the cook-top or heating issues due to the heat ring? I have a flat top and cook with smooth bottom and heat ringed skillets with no noticeable difference.

I believe she read it in the manual that came with the range. We have a glass top also but all the CI we cook with is smoothed bottom. I never thought about a heat ring. It just worked out that way.

Strange thing with the glass tops and old cast iron meeting. Carefully place them on the heat source, no problem. An abrupt drop will damage the glass top stove. No shaking back and forth. Scratching the glass top.
My grandchildren are amazed how we can shake butter and popcorn; back and forth in the cast chicken fryer and make the lid rise. Electric coils.
And,
They think Paw has an old stove.
