How Badly Did I Get Taken?

That's really a bit of an unfair question, as for $53 (including shipping) I now have a 5 qt. CI Dutch oven that has the polished interior that I've been seeking for awhile. So it was less expensive than Lodge for what should be a better pot (once I get it reseasoned).

However, it was sold to me as Wagner, but I have not found any information on Wagner pots that don't have any logo on the bottom. The lid looks like Wagner and the box certainly says it's Wagner (for what that's worth), but I'm just curious to see what I actually have.

Any hints?

The design, markings, and glass lid are all consistent with Wagner post-early 1960s. This unmarked pot could also have been sold as a store brand or even possibly in a Griswold box. It looks to be in excellent condition, and having the original box is nice, even thought the piece is not really a collectible. Should be a fine user, and you probably couldn't buy something new that's as good quality for what you paid.

Thanks Doug.

Pretty much what I thought from a collectability/value standpoint. I wanted a Wagner with the glass dome lid to use, not to put on a shelf, so that didn't worry me too much.

I never thought about the "store brand" aspect. In the little reading I had found about Wagner CI, it appeared there was always a Wagner logo of some sort. The lack of markings is what threw me.

It does appear to be in good shape other than needing reseasoning. No chips, discoloration or marks in the lid; it looks like it could have come out of the box yesterday brand new. No rust or anything on the pot itself. So a good scouring, oven cleaning and a few coats of oil should give me a braising pot that will see many venison roasts & goose breasts (I just learned the joy of braising in red wine).

Thanks again!

Thanks again.

I understand this is not the purpose of your forum, so I really appreciate your assistance.
