How Hard is It to Remove Paint from CI?

I'm looking at a little 4" Wagner pot to put on my back deck under the bottle opener to catch the bottle caps. It doesn't need to be food quality, but I want it to look good.

I found one I like the the outside has been painted black with about 1/3 of the paint gone. I would prefer a seasoned look to to the painted look anyway.

Any reason I can't just apply paint remover and season? It will be hanging on an outside wall under the overhang away from any moisture. I will also take it inside when not in summer use.

If you're not going to use it to cook in then I suppose you could use any sort of chemical paint stripper. I've put painted pieces in my electrolysis tank before... paint comes off pretty easily.
