If a web search for the answer to your cast iron cookware question has brought you directly to this forum, the information you seek may be covered in one of the many reference topics featured on the main website.
The trivet, if made of cast iron, can be cleaned just as you would any iron cookware; lye, electrolysis, etc. The slant/Erie dutch oven, by the way, did not come with a trivet as far as I know. I think it was made available sometime in the 1920s. Does anyone know for sure when?
If the trivet happens to be aluminum, the answer is neither lye nor electrolysis. Both will dissolve aluminum. If you can find it, Dawn Power Dissolver does a good job on aluminum.
