I find places like that, with lots to see, but usually at cringe-inducing prices, e.g. tagged at far above realistic retail values, leaving little or no chance of making a reasonably priced purchase, very disconcerting.
There is some eye candy in that shop. I could spend some time there. There is a shop in Maine that I hit once in a blue moon, I feel like I am shopping at Tiffany's.
So tell us what you went home with. Photos :icon_thumbsup:
Doug, you're correct of course, but even in some of those places you can still find the occasional treasure for a steal.
There's one small "junk emporium" in my town (nothing like what the OP shows) that prices most everything at a bit over fair value. Once in a while I find something that they've mis-valued or m-identified and can get a very good price.
Still other times I keep going back looking at the same dusty pieces and reminding them how long those have been gathering said dust. Eventually they will come down at least 25% or so.
Besides lack of massive piles of CI in these parts, there are a few "collectors" that think anything dirty and cruddy is CI gold and will pay ridiculously inflated prices, leaving people in the know shaking their heads and unable to buy at fair prices.
I still like yard sales, although picikin's can be rather slime.
Oh, I agree, it doesn't stop me from going in those places again and again. A new dealer in the mix will occasionally pop up, and, the last time one did, $95 bought me triple that in value (according to eBay, anyway).
