I.D. Help... Mother-in-law Skillet...

Mother-in-law has property out in the Arizona desert...found this skillet hanging on a fence on the north 40. I cleaned it up for her and am starting to season it... no foundry mark. Any idea what she has ??? Thank you.

Wow. That's in amazing shape! All the ones I find that are nailed up outside, have more craters than the surface of the moon.

Spurgeon... I agree.... hard to explain... maybe gentle winters, nature's best drying mechanism (sun). Or, just lucky.

Here it is after 1 seasoning pass with Crisco... she thinks she'll keep it....and use it.

Just thought I'd share ...the cast iron graveyard.... I have resuscitated two of the skillets... the BSR, and an unmarked Wagner Ware....unfortunately, the big pie has a Grand Canyon crevice on it. One of the other BSR's was beyond redemption...R.I.P. . :grin:
