Then I found out from the "non-collectible" file that this is neither
collectible nor vintage. Oh well... they had it for $3.99 but the cashier
only charged $1.00. I believe this is (unmarked) a John Wright cast
iron (Wrightsville, Pa.) enamelled 2 apple baking dish. One flea bite
on the leading edge.
So, just for a trial run...I cored 2 Gala apples, stuffed them on the spit,
sprinkled on brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and added a generous dollop
of butter to each. Oven bake at pre-heated 350 degrees for 30 min. ... will do
five minutes longer next time as I prefer softer. The house smells like
Granny's country kitchen !
I bought this because, I've never seen one, and, seemed like it was about
time I tried some baked apples. Also, I liked the price. :icon_thumbsup:

Google informs me these are referred to as an "apple schnitzer" ....
