Hi All! I was given three vintage (nickel, aluminum?) pans. All with lathe marks on the inside. Can anyone please explain what I have here? Thanks

Those are polish grinding marks, and their being that distinct indicates this pan didn't see much if any use. The process is not milling or lathing, though. The pan clamped to a machine spinner and a stone grinding head spinning in the opposite direction is moved across the surface. The pan pictured isn't plated, just clean bare iron.

Doug, Thanks so much. For anyone interested here are photos of the other two pans.

Both Lodge, after they started an automated mold making process. 1950 or so, according to the Lodge website. The first is an unmarked Wagner, ca. 1960 or a little later.

Looks like you have a few nice skillets there, and will make great users. And if you find a replacement type/size you like better those will make excellent gifts to friends and family.

Steve,
