ID help on this old No. 8 round griddle please

Good morning,

I picked this at a local thrift store yesterday for what I thought was a very good price (super cheap). The sulphur pitting, raised number, and overall antique look of the casting really caught my eye. I scrubbed it a little to see if there was any more info on it that I couldn't see in the store, to no avail. The 8 on top of the handle is raised, and I have not found a picture of anything on line that matches the underside of the handle, which has a raised edge all around it. The bottom has a fair amount of sulphur pitting, and a possible indented maker's mark, but I suspect it may just be an indent from use. There is an area in the middle of the pitting that has a curious raised area. It does not appear to match any gate marks that I have seen, but perhaps it is a small gate mark, not really sure. I have circled these areas in some of the photos attached. The cooking area, while still needing cleaning, seems to be very smooth. I am guessing that it is fairly old from all that I can tell. I look forward to getting this piece back in usable shape and giving it the second life that it deserves. Any help on identification and/or approximate age would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great day!
David

Sorry, here is a full picture of the bottom. Early Lodge still seems to match most of the info I can find except for the handle. It is also hard to tell if it is just pitting weirdness or a rather small gate mark. Again, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Im gonna just guess on this one, but I say an Import. I amd probably wrong, but thats my guess.

Although hard to discern if it is or not from the photo, if the 8 is raised, I'd go with Lodge until proven otherwise. The one shown in the RB looks like a match (from what can be seen), but also says there should be an 8 on the bottom as well (but I tend to doubt that).

Thanks for the feedback. I guessed likely Lodge as well, but definitely no numbers on the bottom I can find. Newbie question, what is "RB"? It is pretty lightweight, like my single notch Lodge, and the cooking surface seems quite smooth, even while still needing to be cleaned more.

Thanks for the reference books and link. I will be adding these books to my collection in the not too distant future. I have been looking around this site a bit more and am appreciative of all the info that is here.

The number on the handle is definitely raised. I think it was a fairly good deal at $4.23 and look forward to getting this cleaned up and into my user rotation.
