Is it just me.....

...or do you find as many "pieces" of sets as I do?

Over the last six months, I have found halves of double skillets, combo cookers etc. and are usually able to get them at a pretty reasonable price. I have not as of yet found the other half to any of these in the wild..

Do you have have any luck ever finding the missing half? Have you found anywhere (that's not eBay....) to find your "missing half"

thanks all- as always!

I agree. Half the time when I pick up something like this 2 QT dutch oven, it is such a steal that I buy it in hopes of finding a lid for it sometime in the future.

Agreed, why is it that we can find a nice piece without the lid? :frown:
I've passed on good stuff (that I shouldn't have) because they didn't have the matching lid. Oh, well..... my bad.

Rick Hunter. I found a 2 quart like yours and we determined it was sold with a glass lid. Thrift stores are great for those.

Thanks Bonnie. Will have to check out the thrift stores around here for one. Would make a perfect cooker for soup in the winter!!

Bonnie- that was my thoughts as well! I just pulled out a piece I am going to need help identifying it... it seems similar to this:

I'll post pics soon!

Rick; I really like that little 2qt I've got to keep my eyes open for one of those as well! :geek:

Thanks All!
Hey JD. Wasn't on the hunt for the little pot. But when I say it I thought it was very cool and had to buy it. And it cleaned up really well!!

JD,
Very good question, I had thought about this myself recently. I'm not sure I'm a collector of CI but recently have enjoyed cooking with vintage CI. There are a few more pieces I would like to add to my kitchen and a nice double skillet and DO. Are on the list.

I don't like to pay retail for something I collect, the fun is out looking for it. If I find 1/2 of it I may pick it up and wait till the other turns up.

Some of the vintage military guns I collect have serial numbered magazines that match the pistol. There have been many over the years that have been paired back together, now that's a needle in a haystack to find the right exact number. This looks easy in Comparisons. It would be of interest to hear how often some of the collectors here do make that happen.

Bahahahaha...that Wagner five star skillet bottom was mine 2 weeks ago. I cleaned it up, sold it and there it is back on ebay. I am glad to see it is reunited with it's lid. Here's my listing.

JD..I have another lid that I purchased thinking it was the lid for that 5 star and it wasn't. It has the same rings on top but the handle was not curved like the 5 star.

JD that skillet sure cleaned up nicely. It is surely shaped like the five star but no markings? :icon_scratchchin: I wonder if it's unmarked Wagner or a recast?
The cooking surface looks really nice like the Wagner that I had.
