I have one of those Griswold SBL pans with the grooved handle. I read in the CIC info that this is a "late" handle, falling in the 1939-1957 time range. Would it be correct to assume this pan is dated in the 1950-57 time frame? (It's in the oven seasoning right now.)
The SBL TM time frame spans 1939- 1957. It is more likely the change from early to late handle would have been post-war, 1945 or thereabouts. It is improbable the late and late grooved were produced simultaneously. We know from the late large TM #3 skillet having the grooved handle that it did not precede the late non-grooved.
