latest pickings Erie Yankee Bowls

Your No.3 bowl is one, without a p/n but with the 1891 date, that told me that pattern numbers must have started right after 1891 since most 1891 marked pots do have a p/n.

Most of what I remember when I was trying to sell many very nice pots and bowls was that they didn't bring much and I don't know if that has changed. I couldn't even find a buyer for my really pristine No.6 3-leg Griswold kettle so reluctantly ended up selling it to a guy who made a water drum out of it. No collectors were interested and the price was very reasonable.

I wonder where that term "pre-Griswold" came from in describing ERIE pieces. ERIE is only the city that Griswold was located in and many pieces were made right from the start with the full Selden & Griswold, then just Griswold names on them such as waffle irons. ERIE pieces are pretty common. It's the skillets and the earlier ones I think that everyone wants and will pay for.

I was thinking that there would be collectors for the kettles. I just last walked away from a 3 leg Griswold kettle, do not remember the #. Not enough meat left to resell.
Maybe I will wait and see how these sell before I pick up any more kettles

"Pre Griswold" is all around the internet. But I call them "Pre Griswold Name" as it was always Griswold.

"Pre-Griswold" is the eBay seller's way of legally adding "Griswold" as a search keyword to an "Erie" auction.

Another legal way is to say Griswold "ERIE" or ERIE by Griswold, etc. Pre-Griswold, to me, is confusing and not descriptive because ERIE were not made before Griswold. I see that the internet people are doing a good job of trying to rewrite history on many things by being incorrect or lacking documentation on what they say.
