Lodge #14

I have a fellow collector that was searching for a large skillet at a very low price. I ran across a rather large, nasty pan and sent him a photo. I told him it looked like a three notch Lodge but it was too rusty to see the size. He posted the photo online and everyone argued that it was a BSR just because of the hole in the assist tab. I assured him it was a 3 notch Lodge but he insisted that his expert said BSR so no way, even though I was looking at the notches! So he finally said to get it and if it turned out to be what I was saying he'd pay me for it and let me keep it. I'm now the proud owner of a 3 notch size 15 LOL! The first two photos are how I found it, the rest are after a few days in teh lye tank. Does anyone else have an assist tab like this? Can't wait to get this one cleaned up!

Talk about coincidence . I just found my first #14 pan Tuesday and it's a 3 notch Lodge as well .

Nice find , especially when someone else pays for it lol

This one is tough. That assist handle looks BSR to me, but you cannot argue with the notches. Any luck with the cleaning. Any markings on the bottom may solve this mystery. Either way, great find.

Notches, size number at 12 o'clock, what looks like could be a molder's mark at 6 o'clock, all indicate Lodge. Lodge 14s are seen with both rounded and flat-edged assist handles, not typically with a hole, but probably drilled by a previous owner.

There was no doubt for me from the beginning that it was Lodge but that rounded assist handle hole threw some folks for a loop!

Thanks so much for sharing this with us Lloyd! Renovation magic--gives us all hope, my friend--just maybe you shouldn't let the guy who rejected it see how this came out.;)
