Lodge & Griswold #6

Picked these two pieces up in Arizona a few weeks back and wasn't so sure the crud covered skillet was even a collectable piece. The Griswold cleaned up with little effort while the crud covered one took almost 10 days in the lye tank with frequent scrubbing. Was surprised to see it was a single notch #6 Lodge that I only paid $8 for. These were my first #6 skillets in almost two years of hunting. To me they seem to be as scarce as #4's. I've already cooked twice in the Lodge and it will be a keeper for sure.

I like finding those crudded up pans. Seems like the crud drives the price down and it's like opening up a box of cracker jacks when you pull it out of the lye. You usually know if it's a decent American made pan by the handle. I took a chance on a couple of pans that I felt were Wagner and both came out fully marked. And not long after I started collecting I pulled out a #4 Arc Logo Lodge that I paid 3 bucks for. Didn't have a clue that #4 pans were not common at the time, it's still my only #4 pan.

I have several 3 - notch lodges among my collection and just love them. I just like the feel. Not that my other pans don't have my love.
