I bought this waffle iron at an antique fair over the weekend ($20, missing the base, but that's okay).
I've seen a similar model with the "Lodge" name, but haven't found anything exactly like this.
Any idea if this is, in fact, a Lodge waffle iron, and when it may have been manufactured?

The above link will take you to CIC Resource pages under Waffle Irons. Scroll down to "Gallery of Waffle Irons and I believe it's image 6 that shows the Lodge WI. The handles were part of the mold (unison) thus one single piece of CI for each half of the unit. The base should have a raised number (8) in your case right on the edge of the rim where the handles set into the cradle.
It's an early piece (prior to 1930 I believe) and it should clean up nicely with some time in the etank.
The above information may be listed in the RB but since I do not have one maybe someone else will chime in and give more detailed info.
Good luck on finding that base. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-FIND-V...328669?hash=item2380e4b95d:g:n0MAAOSwTuJYrulE
Here is the link to one listed on eBay. The eBay listing has the Alaskan cold handle instead of your type (one piece) handles. Yhe third pic also shows the raised number just below the handles at the top edge of the base
