Lodge Wedge Corn Bread Pan

In fear of beating a dead horse I decided to post a question about my Lodge wedge Corn Bread pan. I always assumed it was made in the 40's or so because of the lack of the Made in USA and CBS markings. I went looking for information here on the site in old discussions on my pan, because I was bored, and I was shocked when I read that BSR is credited with making this pan first in 67!? That does not line up with the marking on my pan. The 8 is identical to my pre SK three notch lodge skillet. I am no expert but the lack of CBS and Made in USA should put this pan in the 40's or so, correct? It is a well made pan and if it is a fake they did a great job, I mean great job. I have come across lodge fakes and it looks like they tried to etch the number with a screw driver. The edges are ground down nicely, the 8 is crisp and identical to all my other lodge pieces. Not sure what the 1 indicates here but any thoughts would be appreciated. I posted pics so you could get a look for yourself.
Thanks,
Kyle

Kyle, if I’m wrong Doug will let us know. The #1 is the pattern number. This could have been their first try without using all the details. Also the made in USA was voluntary for us and a label could work. They also could have started using an old pattern bottom in stock and that is why the number style is the same. The would have added more details to later patterns. This is more likely late 60’s after the BSR’s took off.

Well I just put in a pan of brownies to share with a group of friends over domino's. They will be amazing as ever. I am just a bit bummed about the date of the pan. Mostly because I thought I was getting the hang of identifying pans. I have read all that you guys have given me already, I guess I was just in denial. Thanks for always writing back guys. Doug if you have anything to add, like "that is actually one of the rare prototypes Lodge put out in the 40's, I thought those were a myth" That would be great :chuckle:. Otherwise you guys have a wonderful labor day weekend.
Kyle

The 1 is pattern identifier. It, and in the case of letters like A, doesn't signify order of creation or precedence over a higher number or letter, but rather that it is just one of several, or many, or a few. There isn't a hard and fast rule or date on Made In USA being inscribed on CI, noting that even BSR'S 1967 CBSes didn't have it on them.
