Is it okay to put an entire wire/metal handled waffle iron in a lye bath? Is the metal used to make the handles okay in a lye bath? Let me know.

Yes. They also can go into a e-tank with no problem.

In my experience, lye baths tend to be relatively safe for most things, except organic material, aluminum, and to an extent, glass.
