Lye Tank

I just created my first Lye tank. What was I waiting for? 16oz of lye crystal for 5 gallons of water, easy!! See ya later, Easy-off...

Anyways, I've only had 2 #8's in it. How many times can I use it? Is there a way to tell when there's too much crud in it? Is there a way/reason to filter the crud out? Thanks for any info.

You can use it indefinitely but about a year is what I would do.

I'm over a hundred through mine and all I have done is place a rack in the bottom to keep the pieces out of the sludge that collects at the bottom. Still works great!
