Most of my finds have been at thrift stores. I do also visit antique malls and flea markets when I'm on vacation. I just visited an antique mall that gave me sticker shock. There was a #13 Griswold D.O. with trivet and lid for $1,750.00. Everything I saw was really expensive in two Cities at several antique malls. There was one booth that everything was 50% off. I picked up an old spider skillet for $9.00. I will probably make someone here cringe because I cut a little off two of the legs to even them out. I also didn't notice a hairline crack until I got it home. I picked up the mini food chopper and the coffee mill there also. I got lucky and got the Martin bread stick pan at a flea market for $10.00 my first Martin! The single spout skillet is thin and light but after I got it home and studied it for a while I'm suspecting it may be a recast. I usually think of a recast as a heavy thick skillet that hasn't been ground down or polished at all. The reason I suspect recast is that I can faintly see what I think is the original gate mark. Also the number 8 on the bottom has been ground down so the skillet sits flat. I'm a little disappointed but it's still a nice pan for $25.00. Any thoughts, opinions welcome.
