My bday present from my grandmother

So my grandmother just came over and told me she had something for me. Told me it had not been used in years and made me
Promise to take care of it. She knows my love of cast iron.

Wow, a cactus cookie mold!

Seriously, that's a great gift. I'm finding that I'm drawn to DO's more and more lately when I'm out hunting for iron.

No, I must have sent the wrong link.....hang on

That is some serious iron there! Not to mention the family history that came with it at no extra charge! Large block logo, too! Lucky guy, and happy birthday.

A couple of months ago, I roasted a chicken in mine up at the lake. The wife liked it so much she told me to go get another one for at home. She only tolerates my CI interest so I took the permission slip and ran with it!

That's a nice piece Joseph. Can you tell your grandmother that I've offically put myself up for adoption?

Happy birthday and great gift! You may have eaten meals cooked in that when you visited your grandmother as a child. I have a huge frying pan that was my grandmothers, and means more to me knowing where it came from.

That is a really nice gift. It looks like your grandmother took good care of it. I would use it as is, no need to strip and season.

She didn't. The only reason I know is because when I had opened the lid, it was covered in dust. When she left I washed it hot water and into the oven she went. Once cooled got a nice thin layer of oil.
