Neat old aebleskiver pan

I picked this piece up from a garage sale of a neat older woman. When she caught me looking at the pan she asked if I was Danish- I said no, but I know what this is! She said it belonged to her grandmother.

Pulled it out of the lye bath and seasoned it up this weekend.

I think it's a cool shape for an aebleskiver pan. Also- it works great!

Great to see one actually in use! Thanks for the pictures. Now, would you mind mailing me a few of those aebleskivers, please?

Hah, yeah. Having never made them before- mistakes were made and lessons were learned. The batter started too thick and the oil wasn't releasing them right away. My brother and I stood hunched over the stove with chopsticks trying to turn them or get them out. Many swear words were muttered.

The picture is from the third and final round that we could make from the batter. After adding more water and changing the oil used we got it down pretty good. All were edible, but the 2nd and 3rd rounds were the best!

That is a really neat piece. I do prefer the new improved model from Griswold or Lodge as it contains the oil in the top of the pan and significantly improves the enjoyment/cleanup ratio. This would be my display piece and the Lodge my cooker.
