NES No 11 ID Help

I picked this pan up today because I thought I recognized it. The casting is very good, smooth, and side gated. No markings on the back, one end has a hole, the other has a hole shape, that's not a complete hole, just an indentation where the other hole would be. According to the yellow book, variation 3 indicates no markings on the bottom, appears to have a hole, or resemblance of one in each handle, and has all the right characteristics. Did I get a griswold no. 11 variation 3? And if so is the yellow book pricing accurate at $50-$70?

I'm curious about the N.E (F?).S. on the top.

Is "N.E (F?).S. No.11" something that would be seen on a Griswold?

Nice looking pan.

Yes NES stands for New England Style, they have versions of the no. 11 that are exactly like this, just trying to confirm if this is an actual griswold or a copy

With as much copying of gem pan designs as apparently occurred, I'm not sure how the YB author concluded that several of the early #11 NES variations in the book were actually Griswold, particularly the bottom-gated, the unmarked as to name, and the two or no hanging hole ones. I also don't see anything in the book that indicates whether the lettering on the early variations was raised rather than incised.

ok, after i got it home i was still a little skeptical, guess i bought a really nice casting, possibly a copy, but overpaid for it at $27, oh well still a nice pan

I dont think you over paid at all. Thats still a very nice looking piece. I have seen the N. Waterman marked pieces in shops with a price tag on them of upwards of $100. I am sure I have over paid for pieces in the past, But I have gotten enough great deals that it evens its self out. I would have probably paid that for it.

thanks Greg, it is a really nice casting, and I do have a soft spot for anything with raised markings, so I'll clean it up and hang it on the wall!
