New additions

I've not had any noteworthy additions that I have kept in about a year, but in the last few weeks I've had a few that I've decided keep. Here's the family:

The griddle and corn stick pan aren't technically mine, but my father in law probably has no intention of taking them back, like, ever, so we'll call them mine.

Here's a close up of the Wagner:

It really is a nice pan. I still haven't figured out what to cook in it, but it's a cool piece, none-the-less.

Here is the griddle. I have no use for griddles. Can't think of anything I could do in a griddle that I can't in a skillet. Pancakes may be easier, but certainly not difficult in a skillet. Still, it's a LBL in essentially mint condition, so this one isn't going anywhere.

I like the Wagners, but it's truly hard to beat the pure artistry of the best stuff out of Erie.

Speaking of Grizzlies, here's one I've been looking for for a long time.

Some of you may remember that I acquired a 833 Erie branded dutch oven a few years ago. I've been on the lookout for the matching lid ever since. I had a 2551 lid that worked, with the slant logo TM on the inside of the lid (unmarked outside). I really wanted to find this one on my own, but I've never even seen any size flat DO lid in the wild. This came up BIN a few weeks ago on the Bay, and I made an offer at about 2/3rds asking price and here it is. The oven is finally complete!

This would may be the crown of my current collection. My collection centers around Erie branded Griswold; I much prefer these to Slant, Slant EPU, LBL, or small block Griswolds. I don't really understand why, but I think it has something to do with the sense of history. Probably the same reason that opening a bottle of Ardbeg almost makes me cry every time. Peat, man, Peat.

Finally, the newest piece. I think that this one demonstrated that when the Bear was at it's peak it truly could not be rivaled for beauty of form and execution. This is one of my "bucket list" pieces; nothing particularly rare or unusual, but, man, did they nail this one on the head.

No. 27 in all it's glory. Again, this was an online purchase, but the only time I've ever seen one in the wild the "seller" wouldn't budge off of 300 large, and that obviously wasn't happening. Now to focus on getting all sizes of each series of Erie branded skillet...

I use my similar handle griddle for a pizza pan. Makes a nice medium thin crust type. Cannot believe that someone would ask 300 for the corn and wheat stick pan! I've had one for years, and it is a nice decorative "wall hanger", but I can't really believe someone would ask so much for one.

Very nice pieces for sure ! I have the same #9 griddle as well .

That corn and wheat stick pan really is a show piece . Like you said it stands as a testament to the craftsmanship that Griswold had .

Also , congrats on finding a proper lid to complete your Dutch oven . That's always a great feeling when you match sometime up to make it complete :icon_thumbsup:
