New to collecting and need some help

I found this skillet at a sale the other day for a really good deal and although it appears to be a gate marked it looks like someone tried to add enamel to it? Anyone have any idea who the maker is? I've dropped it in the e-tank now trying to remove the rust and crud.

The maker will probably not be revealed. A small number of early skillets were porcelainized on the inside. I'm not sure what can be done to remove it or to make the inside in better looking condition.

Thanks for replying Steve and I wasn't sure if anyone could tell the maker or not. As for the porcelain on the inside I figured I could try to make it useable if not I'm only out $2 so not a big deal but I figured it would be worth it to at least try.
