Nickel plated cast iron?

I've been seeing these, but don't know a lot about them. Could someone give me a quick synopsis on these, and your thoughts on these versus standard CI skillets.

It would be great if the old plated pieces' surfaces would have been durable enough to remain intact in usage, but sadly not so. Which is why only the most perfectly preserved ones are considered more valuable and collectible than the bare iron versions.
