Not bad for seven bucks

Hey everyone,
Thought I would show off my new piece. My brothers says it is Old Griswold, and he usually knows his stuff. I just like the way the handle connects to the pan. They lady had a 10 year old lodge for 25 bucks and this guy for 7. It sits flat as can be on the counter and I could't be happier. Let me know your thoughts.
Kyle

Unmarked Favorite or CHC after they bought Favorite. Not a Grisly. Nice pan, have one sitting on the table right now. Assuming no cracks (mine has a hairline) is a good deal for $7. IMO.

Really. I thought the handle looked like a few older Griswolds I had seen. The heat ring threw me off though. This is the second one I have found in the last month or so. This one has no cracks or issues really at all. The cooking surfaces are as smooth as glass. I am debating throwing it in the e bath and just giving it a good cleaning. Do you clean all of your finds?

All that I intend to cook in.

Gris stopped making skillets with "outside" heat rings in the middle of the Erie branded product line. To my knowledge they never made unmarked skillets at that time. The Favorites have a certain curvature to the walls and heat ring of the skillet that is pretty distinctive. Some might say sexy, but I'll leave that for you to decide...

I know CJ. I see that a lot around here in New Mexico. If it is unmarked the prices are sometimes great, but if it has any marking at all they are really high. Sometimes I offer my knowledge, which is limited, but this lady was not interested. She almost seemed surprised I went for that one and not the lodge. CI was not her thing. Have a great day.

Good buy, Kyle! I think the handle similarity is what confused you. The early 20th century pans have similar shaped handle attachments. Favorite and Chicago Hardware pans are very good quality in my experience. I suspect the overall quality of that pan is what made your brother think of Griswold. I think you'll find that pan a great user. People who don't know CI but try to sell it anyway... Oh well <sigh>
