Old griddle, possible to ID?

I grabbed this for my uncle, he likes similar style griddles, but he didn't care for this one. It's quite heavy, with a thick bare handle, not at all ornate. There is an 8 inside the heat ring at 3 O'clock, very similar to old Lodge, raised up and very thick. Any clues to its origins?

Your griddle looks familiar but only the style. No idea of the maker. Most early unmarked pieces are unidentifiable.

It looked good to me, will clean up nicely, and a $5 bill took it.
