Pattern Making

Has anybody seen any actual patterns for the vintage CI cookware? I've tried to find some online but no luck so far. My grandfather had some experience as a pattern maker for casting bronze boat parts... propellers, rudders, cleats, etc. (I have a mahogany propeller pattern... its a work of art!). Did they use wood for the cookware? I understand that aluminum was sometimes used. Do any of those old patterns still exist?

In my search, I did find this page about pattern making that may have interest to some besides myself: http://www.afsinc.org/about/content.cfm?PreviewContentItem=23297&RDtoken=53822&userID=12674

some thirty years ago I worked in a foundry making plaques for banks, cemetary markers out of bronze and aluminium. The pattern makers are some of the best wood workers you've ever seen.

Found myself in college a lifetime ago studying Plastics Engineering, really did love it, but unfortunately there were no safety protocols in place at most of the plants I worked. "Nearly died" became too common and I got into IT.

Did alot of mould design in Autocad 13 (yep, long time ago), and designed some parts. Plastics pattern making I would assume are similar, just the shrinkage adjustments.

My father worked in a foundry in Toronto for years, wish I had joined him for a bit.

Here's the boat propeller mold that I got when my grandfather died.

I would LOVE to find a pattern like that for an old skillet mold!

I've seen pictures of wooden patterns for various items made of cast iron; couplings, valve bodies, skillets, etc., but I've never actually seen a wooden pattern in real life.
