Pennsylvania Dutch design Waffle Iron?

Hi I am new here:) About 30 years ago I got this waffle iron. I have tried to identify it. I have search with no luck. Maybe someone here will recognize it and know where it was produced. I have described it as a Pennsylvania Dutch Design. But, I could be wrong with the description. I have looked it over with a magnifying glass and was unable to find any identifying marks.

Thanks Geordine

Thanks Bonnie and Rick, when I got the waffle iron the owner said they had painted the item with black paint. I have never used it or tried paint remover on it. I know it got wet a few years ago and the orange on the inside is a bit of rust. Geordine

Geordine, I have been cleaning a couple of waffle irons lately. After a week long soak in a lye tank I bet yours would be gorgeous. It always amazes me when I can take something that seems so unusable and transform it into something I want to cook a waffle on. A lye soak would take every bit of crud off, including the paint. If you don't want to set up a tank you could spray it with oven cleaner, put it in a black trash bag and set it out in the sun. As soon as I saw your iron I wanted it to go swimming in my tank.

Multiple threads on the same subject are counterproductive and lead to confusion. The question and previous responses to it have been merged into one thread.

Geordine, here is a waffle iron that is kind of similar to yours selling on ebay. It was produced in New York.

I suspect that if you soaked that iron in lye for a week it would probably reveal the maker.

I purchased this one a couple of weeks ago and it really cleaned up nice.
I will post pictures of it on my next day off.

Don't let that sold for price fool you. I went in with a low ball offer. :-)

It could be possibly be a German piece since Pennsylvania dutch is just people of German decent.

Here is the after picture of my waffle iron. I think they look so nice when they are freshly cleaned. It's very industrial looking. The handle feels like it's made of polymer but it's wood. I sanded it smooth.
