Please help I.D. My Skillet

I bought this for $10 a few years back and it's one of my favorites to cook in. It's deep like a chicken fryer and has a nice smooth bottom. The guy I bought it from said it was his grandmother's. Thank you for any info. 10 1/2 inches across the top. Love the outside of it too.

Numbers 89 on the bottom and no other markings.

Thank you so much!

If I remember correctly Wagner and Chicago Hardware made items with the hammer marks in rows, and larger than Lodge or BSR. The 89 would be size 8 or 9. I'm guessing Wagner. Top and bottom pics of handle might help.

Here's pictures. The first one is the bottom of the handle and the second one is the top side of the handle. Thank you for any information.

Thank you Doug and Hilditch. So, is it collectable? Or do I just have a cute looking skillet? Either way, it's still my favorite to use.

I've never heard of the Chicago H.F. I'll do some research on it. I do know that I love that pan to cook in. That's what I used today when I made my Pineapple Upside Down Cake. I thought about using my newer 12" Lodge but went to my old standby.

Oh, that's nice. My first cast iron was a #7 Wagner skillet that I got at a yard sale. Guy said it was his grandmother's but he never used it. I love it and it's what got me hooked! We make an incredible Tarte Tatine in it.
Your pan belonged to someone's grandmother. Just imagine all the stuff she cooked in it over the years. What a treasure!

Hi Tony, Yes, if our pans could talk. I'm sure they could tell a lot of wonderful stories.

When he sold it to me, I had to promise I would take good care of it and ironically it's my favorite "go to" skillet. I use it to bake in to deep frying in.

I've also got an oblong fish fryer from the same family which he said his grandpa would have fish fries often. I've never done anything with it and haven't a clue as what it is either. He said there were a lot of good memories with that one also.

Your Tarte Tatine sound fabulous. I might have to try one after the Pineapple Upside Down cake is finished off by my hubby.
