Hello all, this is my first post on your forum. I hope someone can help me, and I look forward to spending lots of time here!

I bought a skillet in Hamilton Ontario for $29 CDN and I know it is old, but not too much else about it. I have asked questions on another website but I think this is a great place too!

The handle is intriguing to me as it is pierced, it would probably not get too hot in use. I wish they still did this.

Here is a link if you'd like to see the pictures I took: http://imgur.com/a/gA9k8#0

Eye Candy. That is what I call them.

So you have a nice early #9 gate marked, with heat ring, single pour spout, fancy handle skillet. Nice :icon_thumbsup:

OH! Welcome to the forum

It is going to be hard to ID your skillet being unmarked, unless someone has knows something that I do not.

I am still trying to ID this one.

Wow! I have never seen a pierced handle before I stumbled across the one I just bought - and you have one too! Sweet. I'm in the process of cleaning and then seasoning it. It looks like it'll be a good cooker. I just love the fact that 100+ years of meals have been cooked on this bad boy - and look forward to cooking many more myself and passing it on down the line.

I just wish I could find out more about it, where its from, when its from, the usual. Will continue the search and hopefully there's someone out there that knows!

Thanks you for the welcome!

A little Google-Fu found this one: http://castironguys.com/product/victor-odorless-skillet-patented-1879-fancy-handle-gate-mark-vent-hole-shipping-included/

It has a pierced handle, but is marked "Victor". Gonna keep searching! (search term was" cast iron skillet gate mark pierced handle single spout ".

I had the same Victor skillet that came up in your search. The easy part is, that skillet is marked. Not every foundry / maker put their mark / name on the pieces they made. Lost to time.
