Prices When New

So, I had a random thought this morning. Does anyone have a general idea of what these vintage skillets cost when they were new? I know that's a wide open question with lots of variables...but I'm just curious how it would compare price wise to buying modern cookware. Or, even compare to opposite ends of the modern CI spectrum...say Lodge and Finex.

Oh, awesome. I thought I had been all over the static content on this site, but I don't remember ever seeing this. Thanks!

In the past I've run a few skillet ads through an inflation calculator. Wagner and Griswold typically sold at prices near what you'd pay for a comparable Lodge today.

That's what I'm seeing by looking through these ads and doing the same inflation calculations. I was just struck when the question popped into my head this morning...I had never considered it before.

Many of these old ads are catalog pages with pricing:

That was very helpful.. thanks for the link. I am reconditioning a #5 small logo Griswold and a #6 Wagner for my 83 year old neighbor. I asked if I could buy them but he said they were his late wife's and that he didn't want to part with them. So instead, I'm fixing them up for him. He was asking me what I thought they cost when new, and thanks to that link, I was able to print out catalog pages for him. He was thrilled!
