found this cool odorless cast iron pan for 22.00 . Made in Boston by S.H. Boardman. The pat date on the bottom is Apr 7 91 to Jan 4 98. Any info on this Company or idea of value? It's missing the cover that went with it. Thanks.

Nope, but that is one cool pan. Like a woman who bought a new pair of shoes; I’d be willing to shell out $500.00 for the rest of the outfit just to have it complete. Not any lid would do as it was hinged and has a single spout cover.

That's a beautiful piece of history! Kudos on finding that old ad!

BTW - just for fun, I looked up an inflation calculator. $1.25 in 1899 is $35.71 in 2015 (the last year they have data for) ... so you bought it for a steal!

So, here's the cover, in full operation. I've been meaning to post pictures of this, my favorite pan, for some time. I got it at a flea market last year, when I was just starting out with CI. No one knew what it was, but I liked it and with an asking price of $40, I traded a small moose antler for it.

As you can see, it's unmarked, except for the patent dates. Months after I got it, I was going through our foundry database, looking at New England foundries, and found a picture of it, marked. It was a EUREKA! moment…

MikeZ, thanks! Looks like the cover isn't cast iron. interesting. Great pan! yours Looks a few years older than mine. I have the same patent date but mine has the company name and not the bottom gate mark. I think these pans are very rare because I have been searching for CI in NE for years, and this is the first one I have seen.
I live in NH, and found this pan in Ma.
