Sad Iron Heater?

I hope this works, first time doing pics on the new site.I was just wondering if this was meant to have hot coals put in it? It has a vent on the back that rotates. I have never seen anything like this.

You may have a marriage of parts there. I believe that the bottom piece would have held coals, but it also would have had a handled lid that was attached utilizing the hole shown on the back. A google image search of "antique charcoal irons" will show similar ones.

Yeah I doubt the bottom is Wapak. Im just trying to learn more about the whole Sad Iron collecting. Thanks for the reply!
